Once you made some important decisions, you got to work planning out a whole month’s worth of content in advance so that you’ve set yourself up for success by starting out ahead of the game in this new business process.

It’s a new month so we’re gonna start talking about the next tech habit in building your business back office…but that doesn’t mean you stop creating content! It’s called a habit which literally means:

A settled or regular tendency or practice, especially one that is hard to give up.

I especially love the addition of especially one that is hard to give up because for many of us, content creation is one of our biggest struggles in business, and turning it into a habit can completely change that!

So…while we are going to start talking about something new this month, this is to build on top of the habit you’ve already started.

That means, that each week of this month, you should be creating another week’s worth of content for your primary platform…and remember we haven’t even started posting any of this yet so by the time we start posting, you are going to be even MORE ahead of the game! Just keep that in mind as you create your content and make sure that it isn’t time-specific so that it still makes sense when you post!

Ok, Tech Habit #2…here we go!

So, this one may not quite feel like a habit because it’s something that you won’t do quite as day-to-day in your business as creating and sharing content, but it is something you will do over and over again so getting into a habit of making sure that you do it completely is key! This is what we call creating a business process.

This month’s tech habit is so important because it’s literally the lifeblood of growing your audience…

What is it you ask?

Creating Lead Generation.

This one has two parts.

Grabbing Their Attention

Practically, what this means is creating a free (or low ticket, if you prefer) offer that captures the attention of your ideal future customer.

What you create is 100% up to you and your genius, but here are a few ideas of lead generation options for all different types of businesses to get you inspired:

  • Downloadable checklist/cheat sheet/worksheet/tips and tricks
  • How To Guides
  • e-Book
  • Template (this can be everything from an email template to a design template for their Cricut)
  • Pre-recorded video training/masterclass
  • Email drip challenge (intended to help them achieve a small transformation or accomplish a small task)
  • Discount coupon
  • Free Shipping
  • Free Gift wrapping
  • Customer Loyalty program
  • Product sample

The list can go on and on.

But here are the key points to keep in mind as you create your Freebie/Opt-in/Lead Generation offer.

  1. Must be relevant to what you sell
  2. Is something you create only once so that you aren’t giving up your time for free (you’ll notice that free consultation isn’t on that list above…that’s for good reason! 😉)
  3. Can help them experience a little ‘win’
  4. Ideally can lead naturally to an upsell of one of your products or services

Grabbing their Email Address

So now that you have their attention, you need a way to capture their email address so that you can add them to your email list!

For this part, you have two options (I know, so many options!! 😜)

Super Simple Option

Your super simple option is to create a form for them to fill out with their name and email address.

Ideally, you’ll create this form right in your email marketing platform because that’s the simplest way to do it, but if you haven’t chosen your email platform yet, or you are in a free plan and don’t have access to their forms yet (which any of the platforms that I recommend in the Tech-Savvy Basics course would include), then you can start with any form builder like Google forms, Typeform, Jot Form, etc.

Slightly More Advanced Option

For the slightly more advanced option, you can create a whole landing page for your form to be embedded in.

If any of those words are already sending you running for the hills, just skip ahead 😂 zero judgment here!

If you are already experienced in creating landing pages and forms, then go for it!

However, if you fall into the camp of “doesn’t scare me but I’ve never done it either”, then you might want to check out my Tech-Savvy Intensive on Landing Pages to support you through that process.

Skipping Ahead

If you were in the “skipping ahead” camp, then this is where you should skip to!

This may seem like very little to do for a whole month, but let me tell you why it’s not.

Firstly, remember that during this month, you are still creating a week’s worth of content each week, so that is going to keep you busy as well.

Second, getting your lead generation offer right is super important.

  • Take the time to do your market research.
  • Talk to people who are most likely to be your future customers and find out what their pain points are in your area of expertise.
  • What kind of words do they use when they describe that challenge and how can you best help them overcome it?

Be thorough and detailed during this part and you are going to be pleasantly surprised at how quickly your email list grows with the type of person who is going to be super excited to buy from you!
